  • Concentration: 20th-century American Literature

Alexandra is a first year PhD student whose research and teaching interests center on twentieth-century American literature, and the complex, interwoven representations of race, class, gender, and sexuality throughout this literature. Some of her research interests include the presence of gendered silence and subalternity in narrative, the role of empathy in character construction and readership, contemporary feminist debates concerning sex and gender binaries and intersections, female figures of madness and reclusiveness, genealogies across narratives, and how disruptions of temporality and spatiality function within narrative structures. She is also interested in queer theory, film theory, and trauma studies.
