    Evan Hixon is a third year PhD student studying Early Modern British Literature. His research work focuses on early modern political theory and its relationship to the institution of the theater, with a specific emphasis on the works of Shakespeare and Marlowe.  His most recent research projects have focused on the transmission and reception of Machiavellian political theory during the end of the Tudor dynasty and its representation in the drama of the late Elizabethan period.  His other research interests focus on early modern performance theory, early modern English representations of Italy and the translation and circulation of political guidebooks.
