How do stories shape relations between the self, the other, and the world?
This writing-intensive course will explore these profound and perhaps unanswerable questions about fiction through attention to the details of novels and short stories that are themselves engaged in these questions.
Featured writers include Toni Morrison, Leslie Marmon Silko, Italo Calvino, Nathaniel Hawthorne, D.H. Lawrence, Flannery O’Connor, and Charlotte Perkins Gilman.
