Mary Karr is next up in the 2015 Raymond Carver Reading Series, with a reading from her on Wednesday, November 4.

This past May, Karr delivered the 2015 Commencement Address to SU’s graduating class. In addition to being an English professor at Syracuse, she is also the author of three best-selling memoirs, "Lit" (Harper, 2009), "Cherry" (Viking, 2000), and "The Liars’ Club" (Viking, 1995), and four critically acclaimed volumes of poetry, including "Sinners Welcome" (Harper, 2006). Her latest book, "The Art of Memoir" (Harper, 2015), has received praise from multiple media channels

"Karr’s poetry is frequently described as 'unsentimental' and 'unsparing' in its evocation of painful truths, often about their author," writes Cyndi Moritz.

The reading starts Wednesday, November 4 at 5:30 p.m. in Gifford Auditorium with a Q&A beginning at 3:45. The event is free and open to the public.

For more information, contact Sarah Harwell G’05, associate director of the M.F.A. Program in Creative Writing, at scharwel@syr.edu.
